How Will You Celebrate Kindness Today?

I saw a post on Facebook that brought a smile to my face. A local mom shared the story of seeing a note on her car from a distance. At first she thought it might be a ticket or an unkind message. When she got to her car, she found a pink sticky note with a child's handwriting, "YOU are awesome."

Hearing about this made me smile. And then hearing about the joy the kids who left the messages felt by spreading kindness was even better.

In my “life is grand” view of the world I could picture people everywhere taking a minute to spread kindness and how fabulous it could really be.

I am starting this blog series to share more stories like this and champion kindness in the workplace, on corporate boards, in startups, in the media, and throughout our communities.

A local friend who runs Lady Gaga's Born this Way Foundation shared her story of 21 days of kindness and I am grateful to live in a community where we have 21 Days of Kindness programs running in all of the schools.

Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation is leading a Channel Kindness Challenge. Learn more here and sign up to win two tickets to an upcoming Lady Gaga show and a Love Bravery merch basket.

Will you join me in celebrating kindness today? Here are five ideas to help you get started.

  1. Help someone open a door or carry something.

  2. Smile at as many people as possible.

  3. Give as many compliments as possible.

  4. Send a thank you note.

  5. Carry a plastic bag with you and pick up trash along the way.

Come back tomorrow to learn more about #kindness in our communities and the stories of those who are making a difference.

If you have a story to share on kindness, I would love to hear it. What advice would you offer to share kindness in your work, at home, or in the community?
